The Shirelles “What Does A Girl Do?” (Scepter 1259, Pop#53, 1963)

…For their second to last single from 1963 they asked about why the playing field was so lopsided in the dating game with this punchy, Ed Townsend (concurrently working with Theola Kilgore) written number.

Maybe it strikes a chord in with me because, well, the rituals for Gay men aren’t written in stone either, but I’ve always loved how honest it was about double standards during courtship.

The Shirelles are awesome.
